YVETTE MIMIEUX

Yvette Mimieux (pronounced me-me-oh) was a popular starlet in the late '50s and early '60s.

In the 1985 Saturday night soap, Berrenger's, Yvette played a vice president of merchandising. Modelled on Bloomingdale's, Berrenger's explored the workings of a Manhattan department store. The location site was said furnished by Barney's New York. The clothes were been outfitted by Travilla.

On reflection at the time, Yvette reminisced, "In those days women were usually seen from the shoulders up; bellies and thighs were hidden from view. Women used to be soft and rounded. Now body tone and muscles have become important."

Yvette was 40-something in 1984 said, "I don't jog or work out with weights. I do yoga mostly. What's going on with your head is more important than what's going on with your thighs."

Berrenger's debut not long after its predecessor in the glamor market, Paper Dolls bit the dust.

Network chief Brandon Tartikoff insisted at the time, "As we've seen in the past, it is extremely difficult to launch a continuing drama in the crunch of the highly competitive fall season. Berrenger's was always planned to have its premiere in mid-season."

On Paper Dolls, Morgan Fairchild played the owner of a model agency. She made the comment, "It's just been so unreal since the show's been cancelled. I haven't seen anybody. I mean I've talked over the phone with a few people, but it's weird not seeing people you've seen everyday for almost a year. Everybody's just kind of gone their separate ways."
